the ranks of McCann Erikson advertising agency to become the Regional Creative
Director. He was 29 when Tan Sri Lim founded Wings Creative in 1974 and in less
than 10 years, its turnover grew to RM44 million. The mid 80s and early 90s saw
him as a strategic communicator, building campaigns for companies, governments
and humanitarian causes. With a vision to propel Malaysia as a centre of excellence
for education as well as to evoke design consciousness among Malaysians, Tan Sri
Lim established Limkokwing Institute of Creative Technology in 1991 and in just
12 years nurtured it to University status. Today Limkokwing University is one
of Malaysia's leading brand, recognised for international quality education. What
started as a college with 200 students in rented premises is today a fully-owned
full facility RM100 million campus in Cyberjaya with 4,000 students from 65 countries.
Ever the philanthropist, Tan Sri Lim is closely associated with more than ten
charity organisations, and over the years, has received numerous accolades for
his many accomplishments. The awards are a culmination of several months
of interviews and judging sessions by an independent panel of judges. "we take
great pride in the role we have played, and will continue to play in celebrating
the story of how so many hard-won dreams have come true. It was indeed a challenge
for the judges to select one single award recipient, as each top nominee is a
winner in his or her own right," said Mr See Huey Beng, Country Managing Partner,
Ernst & Young. | | | |

Woman Entrepreneur Of The Year®
2005 Madam Yeo Kim Luang Ecofuture Berhad |
| | Mdm
Yeo Kim Luang of Ecofuture Berhad was named the Woman Entrepreneur Of The Year.
A chemist by training, Madam Yeo has been in the oleo industry for over 30 years.
Fuelled by her passion to research and develop, she acquired a palm oil mill in
Johor in 1992, and soon, with the availability of ample supply of empty fruit
bunches (EFB), Madam Yeo diversified Ecofuture Group into the biomass industry.
Through creativity, innovation and sheer doggedness, Madam Yeo developed a machine
in 1996 to produce refined fibre from EFB. This fibre is used to manufacture downstream
products such as ECOMAT, a flexible and light mulching mat, now widely used in
Malaysian plantations for soil conditioning and for prevention of soil erosion
on hill slopes in Malaysia, the Middle East and China. After successful trials,
Ecofuture has been awarded contracts to implement desert and sandstorm control
projects in China. A new biodegradable disposable packaging product, ECOPAK, is
already attracting orders from Europe, Japan and Korea. Ever innovative, another
of her focus is to produce pulp and paper using biomass technology from EFB and
its pulp making plant is expected to begin production in 2006. Fourteen years
on, Madam Yeo listed the Group on the MESDAQ in 2005, the first agrotech company
promoting biomass technology. | | |
