Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® Award, founded and produced by
Ernst & Young, is a national and international annual award programme, which
identifies and recognises the achievements of outstanding entrepreneurs who have
established and built successful companies. The programme celebrates entrepreneurial
success and recognises the benefits that entrepreneurs and their entrepreneurial
spirit bring to the economy in terms of job creation and enhancing its competitiveness
and profile. The programme originated in 1986 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
As the first truly global award of its kind, Ernst & Young Entrepreneur
Of The Year® celebrates entrepreneurs who are building and leading successful,
growing, and dynamic businesses, recognising them through regional, national,
and global award programmes in over 150 cities and 35 countries. The international
recognition of the award positions recipients as world-class entrepreneurs, and
provides a benchmark for entrepreneurial excellence. Winners are much-admired
leaders in their industries and important role models.This programme has become
a global benchmark for entrepreneurship and leaders around the world use it to
embrace the culture of entrepreneurship. They see the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur
Of The Year® Awards as a way to honour indigenous business leaders and create
national role models. With the country award recipients competing to be named
