Coming from a humble background, Ir Edwin Lim Beng Fook self-financed his tertiary education and returned with a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Mr Lim's pioneering spirit was already evident at university - he developed probably the first Materials Requirement Planning system software, a forerunner to the Enterprise Resource Planning system, which ran on the first desktop IBM PC in 1980.
This was a major breakthrough as most software then ran on mainframe computers.
In 2001, after almost two decades of working with multinational companies, Mr Lim co-founded the K-One Group to design, develop and manufacture electronic end products for the communication, computer and consumer electronic / multimedia industries. One of the Group's proudest achievements is the optical module, used in the world's first digital pen, which it co-developed and manufactured with Sweden's Anoto. The Group exports all its
products and services, mainly to Europe and some to America and North Asia with clients including major OEMs such as Sony Ericsson Mobile Communication, Logitech, C Tech, and Nokia.
As early as 2002, K-One Technology attained the MSC status. Under
Mr Lim's creative force and visionary leadership, the Group, now
Malaysia's premier one-stop technology provider, received numerous
quality and excellence awards. @ Sept 05 |

Even before Kenny and Henry Goh completed their tertiary education, they founded Macro Kiosk with another brother in 1998 as a partnership powering paging networks. While they were one of the first few to recognise SMS technology's potential, persuading investors to finance a relatively unheard of technology was a major challenge. After some innovative methods, they finally convinced an investor
to fund their passionate belief in their business idea. Macro Kiosk was incorporated in 2000 and since then, Macro Kiosk grew its mobile communication technology enabler business. Today, in the short span of five years Macro Kiosk has grown from just the three brothers to fifty staff covering five different nationalities and offices in seven countries in the region. This was made possible with Macro Kiosk's very own SMS Gateway known as
etracker with personalised customer service. The etracker platform is connected to 364 mobile operators over 115 countries providing bi-directional SMS and 34 mobile operators over ten countries to provide premium / reverse-charged SMS.
Macro Kiosk was awarded the MSC Status and an ASP Class license from the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) in 2001 and now they are headed for listing on the Mesdaq Market of Bursa Malaysia. @ Sept 05 |
