Y. Bhg. Datuk Tony Fernandes commenced
his career in the music industry. Datuk Tony worked
with the Virgin Group before moving on to Warner Music
International London. At the age of 27, Datuk Tony was
transferred back to Malaysia to head Warner Music Malaysia
where he had 12 illustrious years with Warner with his
last position being Vice President Asian. During his
tenure with Warner, Datuk Tony was also actively involved
in developing the Malaysian Music Industry.
Datuk Tony founded Tune Air Sdn Bhd in 2001. Together
with three partners Datuk Tony took over AirAsia Sdn
Bhd, Malaysia’s second national carrier and successfully
relaunched the airline as Asia’s first low cost
carrier in December 2001. Since then, AirAsia has grown
the Malaysian air travel market through its revolutionary
low fares, frequent, reliable flights and offering innovative
internet-based booking reservation channels. AirAsia
recorded profits every month since the first day of
operation and has recently won landing rights at three
international destinations – Bali, Phuket and

Mr Alan Tan founded the TimeCom Holdings
Sdn Bhd Group in 1984 with the primary aim of providing
IT learning programs for children. Alan pioneered the
local IT learning industry at a time when IT was in
its infancy in Malaysia. After years of challenging
schools to implement courseware he personally initiated,
the Group has flourished to become the market leader
in the provision of IT learning programs to over 150,000
pupils in approximately 200 pre-schools and schools
throughout the country.
Mr Tan has led the Group’s diversification initiatives
as an IT solutions provider and through selective networking,
has procured the sole distributorship for certain major
PC systems, PC components and related products. He has
won several coveted excellence and quality awards, including
the 2002 Yazhou Zhoukan’s Most Outstanding Young
Chinese Entrepreneur for Malaysia. Recently, Mr Tan
signed a memorandum with OIC Networks Sdn Bhd to provide
IT education expertise to 56 Islamic nations, creating

Ms Theresa Fong founded Caelygirl in
1986 to manufacture and market lingerie products. She
started her operations from rented shoplots, and due
to limited capital and resources, she chose to market
her products through the direct selling method. This
method enabled her to capitalize on network marketing
whereby she trained and educated her down liners to
promote and market Caelygirl’s ladies undergarments.
Today Caelygirl has more than 150 stockists and 30,000
entrepreneurs throughout Malaysia.
Within a year of operations, Caelygirl moved to its
own two units of 3 ½ story buildings and a few
years later, to a fully integrated modern factory building
on 7 ½ acres of land. Caelygirl now exports to
17 countries including Canada, USA, most of the European
Community and China. Under Ms Fong’s leadership,
Caelygirl was recently listed on the Second Board of
the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange. Both Ms Theresa Fong
and Caelygirl have won many quality and excellence awards.@

Dato’ Mohd. Nadzmi started his career
as a professional manager – He was appointed the
CEO of Edaran Otomobil Nasional Bhd and 3 years later
as CEO of Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional Bhd. He made
the successful transition to being an entrepreneur in
1996 when he took over the ownership and management
of Mara Holdings, now known as Nadicorp Holdings. Despite
the Asian financial crisis, he successfully turned around
the loss making Group within 1 ½ years with his
own innovative management style and by revamping the
corporate and operational structure.
Nadicorp is today Malaysia’s
biggest Bumiputra conglomerate and is at the forefront
of land transportation industry serving 60 million customers
a year with 1,200 buses plying 234 routes throughout
Peninsular Malaysia. His achievements earned him many
accolades, including being inducted into the prestigious
membership of the “Global Leaders of Tomorrow”
at the World Economic Forum at Davos, Switzerland. He
currently serves as the President of Badminton Association
